What's the difference between "Light Mix" and "Grow Mix"?
Light Mix is a low-fertilization substrate, ideal for starting out sensitive seedlings and cuttings. It allows you to controlcisnutrient levels right from the start. Grow Mix is enriched with fertilizer to support the growth phase for around three weeks, making cultivation simpler for gardeners who don't want to fertilize immediately.
What is perlite and why is it in my potting soil?
Perlite is a volcanic rock which, when heated, expands into light, white beads. It is added to potting soils to improve aeration and drainage, preventing roots from suffocating and water from stagnating. It contains no nutrients, but plays a crucial role in the health of the root system.
How do I choose my potting soil for flowering?
For flowering and fruiting, we recommend choosing a potting soil specially designed for this phase. Mixes such as Royalty Mix or Bat Mix, enriched with slow-release nutrients and often guano, provide the essential elements (notably phosphorus) to support flower and fruit formation, while promoting the development of aromas.
Can I reuse my potting soil from one year to the next?
Reuse of potting soil is possible, but not always recommended. Over time, potting soil loses its structure and nutrient content. If you wish to reuse it, you can amend it with organic matter (compost) and aeration agents such as perlite or pozzolan. This is an ecological solution, but it's often best to start a new crop with fresh potting soil to guarantee optimum results.
